FEAR OF MEN, born of an art school project, has turned into one of the most promising bands of 2013 in the UK (as declared loudly by most of the music papers over there). Drawing their inspiration from art and philosophy, Fear of Men deliberately juxtaposes iconic museum imagery and lyrical themes of loneliness and fragmentation with buoyant pop melodies. As Stereogum described: "“Fear Of Men’s swoony, sweet dream-pop is both euphoric and miserable, all at once.” So jan le and dream and don't be scared.

Formed in 2009 from the jagged remains of The Smell stalwarts, Finally Punk, Mika Miko, and Talbot Tagora, DUNES forged their band (and bond) in a shared and jangling dream of pop. Their debut LP, "Noctiluca," released on PPM last spring has drawn near universal raves from Pitchfork, Gorilla Vs Bear, Brooklyn Vegan & the rest of the usual suspects, noting it's dreamy expanses, glowing & echoing guitars and harmonies. [Though live, the sound comes off a bit more angular, like the early Cocteau Twins recordings.] Here, it should also be noted that the album first began with the track "Palm," which was recorded initially for a Part Time Punks Radio Session, and indeed the entire LP was recorded by Jonathon Deutsche, the talented engineer from KXLU who has engineered many of the PTP Radio Sessions!
