Part Time Punks
This Sunday. PART TIME PUNKS devotes an entire nite to the music of one of it's favourite new record labels in the world: DOWNWARDS RECORDS!

And the first 60 or so through the door will get a FREE CD of their choice, either the new Downwards compilation, "So Click Heels" OR a special mix CD by Silent Servant pressed exclusively for this show!

Los Angeles synthgazers TROPIC OF CANCER have released three 10” singles through the much revered Downwards label, as well as a recent EP on Blackest Ever Black, Th
e Sorrow Of Two Blooms. Following a lengthy European tour with HTRK last fall, UK press described Tropic Of Cancer’s sound as “melting gothic ambiance with shoegaze grit, resulting in a blissed-out drone,” and their latest EP on Mannequin finds the band expanding and enriching their sound. The band’s sparse, synthgaze soundscapes invoke Factory Records’ producer, Martin Hannett’s coldest, crispest productions, while singer Camella Lobo’s ensnare and unfold in hades of Nico, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. These are the songs for the loveless.

Fusing the post-punk purr of The Cramps, The Slits & Androids Of Mu with the darkerwave machinations of Joy Division & Cabaret Voltaire, DVA DAMAS bring their growl back to PTP (featuring Taylor from Tropic Of Cancer!)

COLLIN GORMAN WEILAND = propulsive drone noise + pummeling attack velocity + crooked kosmische spirals + walls of welting distortion. Lo, the industrial machine throbs.

FLAAMINGOS = Downwards' latest signings, and one of PTP's newest favouritest darkwave bands. Imagine a collection of extraordinary Depeche Mode b-sides circa "Speak & Spell" that you've never heard before + the imaginary Kraftwerk LP recorded between "The Man Machine" and "Computer World" and you're almost there...
