12-2-12 ELEVEN POND
OCTAVIUS
YOUTH CODE
Several years ago Dark Entries reissued the debut LP by ELEVEN POND. Long sought after by collectors, the Rochester, NY band only released a single LP in their time together before dissolving into obscurity. Their sound–-a merging of post punk, dark dance and synthpop full of melodic arrangements-–reflected the originality of gifted songwriters who met in art school with a shared interest in 4AD and Factory Records. Fronted by Jeff Gallea, now living in LA and a near-constant figure t e past two years at at the club, PTP is honored to offer this stage to the stunning band, who only now are receiving the attention they deserved over two decades ago...

Glacial, barren and difficult, OCTAVIUS arrives in stark contrast to synth pop derived efforts of recent fashion. Informed directly by Bowie’s Low, New Order’s Movement and, as always, Tricky’s Pre-Millennium Tension.“ This is the sound of synth hitting the streets, of hard concrete & urban decay.

YOUTH CODE are the latest addition to the Downwards Records family (home of PTP faves, Tropic Of Cancer, DVA Damas and Silent Servant aka Juan Mendez). Like Silent Servant, Youth Code are crossing wires between industrial and EBM, minimal synth and minimal techno. So heads up, fans of Throbbing Gristle, Severed Heads, Skinny Puppy, Front 242 and //Tense//, to say the very least.
