Interview by Zoe Zag: Alessandro Adriani. Mannequin Records MiniFest @ Part Time Punks What is Mannequin Records? Mannequin started in 2008 as a distributor for cold cave, post punk, minimal wave, and obscure music. The label is reissues and the other sidenew bands. Its not only post punk or cold cave stuff. I just like what is giving me an emotion. So we can go from experimental music to psychedelic rock. What was the first release of Mannequin Records? I was doing movie soundtracks. In fact the first release of Mannequin was Fando y Lis, Jodorowsky's movie from the 60's. It was a collaboration between me and Mushy.Your recording studio is in Rome, so why did you move to Berlin? I moved to Berlin for the possibility to give the label more popularity. The contacts you can have in Berlin you would not have in my city. It's a new start. We changed the logo, the website and everything. Who does the art for your releases? Giandomenico Carpentieri works on the pictures and then we show the graphic project to the band and they love it. Everyone collaborates.What do you think about this scene in Los Angeles? Well it's a pleasure to be here, I think I have more friends here than in New York. What I notice is that there aren't a lot of labels here. And it's strange because all of my bands are from LA. That's the reason we are doing a festival, because it's so easy. They are here already. Silent Servant is now living in LA. He's the husband of Camella from Tropic of Cancer. The record "Negative Fascination," I think was my favorite album in 2012. It's mixing the dark with the Techno in incredible ways. I love.
