______Interview by Zoe Zag: Dylan Gordon - How did you get started with Part Time Punks?
I got stuck going to clubs in hollywood for awhile because I actually got away from music. I was in a lot of bands in the 90's and although music is my greatest love, I had to walk away from it for a while because the scene got really toxic. A lot of people got strung out and I had to get away from it. I came into my current career, which is being a photographer and started working on a lot of shoots. After work I would hang out with the people that I worked with and we would go to the clubs in hollywood. I ended up going to places like Starshoes and Cinespace and the Beauty Bar. I was perfectly happy to get drunk and listen to djs spin Michael Jackson, and I probably just didn't realize how lame it was. Then in 2004 I got sober and I was sitting in one of those clubs and I realized that as nice as the are, I was sitting next to a lot of holllywood gas- bags. It was a moment of realization and so I stopped going. Then on myspace, I think Part Time Punks may have added me and there were some bands playing and it was a free night. It might have been Lotto Ball, Frank Alpine's first band. And I went and I had a great time. I found myself bringing my camera more often and then one time, the door man said I couldn't bring the camera in without permission from the promoter. He said it in such a way that I didn't like so I eye balled him and kind of sized him up. So I went home that night and made some prints, and I showed up the next week and I flagged Michael Stock down and showed him some prints of my work. I said 'Hey Michael, I wanna be the photographer for Part Time Punks, and he said 'Great, you're in!'
